Proclamation of Indonesian Independence
The Proclamation of Indonesian Independence was read at 10.00 a.m. on Friday, 17 August 1945.
The declaration marked the start of the diplomatic and armed resistance of the Indonesian National Revolution, fighting against the forces of the Netherlands and pro-Dutch civilians, until the latter officially acknowledged Indonesia’s independence in 1949. The Netherlands declared that they had decided to accept de facto 17 August 1945 as Indonesia’s independence date. The United Nations, who mediated in the conflict, formally acknowledge the date of independence as 27 December 1949.
The document was signed by Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta, who were appointed president and vice-president respectively the following day.

The Kingdom of Majapahit
Have you heard about Majapahit Kingdom in Indonesia history? Majapahit was a vast archipelagic empire location on the Eastern part of Java (1293 – 1500 AD).
East Javanese history was divided into three dynasty periods. The first was the period when the kings of Kediri ruled over Java in 10th – 1222 AD. They were then succeeded by the dynasty of Singasari (1222 – 1293 AD), which later was replaced by the kings of Majapahit (1293 – early 16th century).
Raden Wijaya was the son in law of Kertanegara, the last king of Singasari who had been murdered by Jayakatwang from Gelang-Gelang. Then Jayakatwang was defeated by Wijaya utilizing the Mongol armies, who come to Java to punish Kertanegara. Finally by cunning tricks, Wijaya defeated the Mongol’s and drove them away. Then Wijaya ascended the throne as the finest king of Majapahit on 1293 AD.

Supersemar
The Supersemar, the Indonesian abbreviation for “Surat Perintah Sebelas Maret”( Order of March the Eleventh), was a document signed by the Indonesian President Sukarno on 11 March 1966.
It is said that it was giving the army commander Lt. Gen. Suharto authority to take whatever measures he “deemed necessary” to restore order to the chaotic situation during the Indonesian killings of 1965 – 1966.
